Transitioning From Winter Skin to Summer Skin

Transitioning From Winter Skin to Summer Skin

Posted 04.05.2023

As the seasons change, so do the needs of our skin. Skincare is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and it's essential to switch up your skincare routine to accommodate the changing weather and environmental conditions.

Switch your oil-based cleanser to a water-based cleanser

During the Winter, the air is dry, and there is less humidity. This can lead to dry, flaky skin, and even cracks or fissures in extreme cases. Throughout these months, the skin is in need of all the moisture it can get, so this would be the perfect time to use butter and oil heavy products.

For cleansing throughout Winter, we recommend using an oil-based cleansing balm such as our award-winning Soothing Seed Oils Cleansing Balm which not only removes make-up, but also provides that much needed skin hydration.

As the seasons change and the days get warmer throughout Spring and Summer, there is a lot more humidity and we are prone to producing a lot more oil. Switch from your cleansing balm and opt for our Rosewater & Chamomile Cleanser which cleanses just as well, but is less heavy on the skin, and leaves skin feeling super fresh and hydrated.

Switch from thick moisturisers to lightweight moisturisers

As mentioned above, Winter skin craves moisture. Throughout these months make sure to pack on a deeply nourishing and thick daily moisturiser that will keep your skin hydrated and protected from the cold climate for hours. Applying a thick moisturiser throughout warmer days can lead to clogged pores resulting in breakouts. For the warmer months, our Hyaluronic Firming Day Moisturiser is the perfect lightweight moisturiser that still hydrates but less intensely to minimise clogged pores.

Due to temperatures dropping at night it's perfectly fine to keep your night cream as is, so if you have a thick night cream such as our Intense Repair Night Cream, there's no need to switch this!

Incorporate Vitamin C

With more sun and UV ray exposure throughout the warmer months, adding a Vitamin C serum is really beneficial for the skin. Our very own Vitamin C Brightening Day Serum comes with a high concentration of Vitamin C which is proven to protect against environmental stressors and UV-induced cell damage.

Continue to exfoliate and apply anti-aging treatments

No need to switch your exfoliating and anti-aging products either.

Just make sure to exfoliate more frequently throughout the warmer months to prevent clogged pores since the skin is more exposed to the sun and is producing a lot more oil.
